UMA Book Description Giant toxic toad. Swallows people whole.

The Yvonne (イーボンヌ, Ībon'nu) is an UMA that resembles a giant frog. They wait and jump out when someone passes by and attack.

Guardian[]

Early in the game after defeating Cow Bones you get another letter in the Suggestion Box telling about a giant frog Guardian. The Guardian seems to be a more grown up version of the enemies or maybe another species of UMA all together.

Attacks[]

Both Yvonne and the Guardian that either is one or just similar have similar attacks to. Both have a tongue lash that can instantly kill any one of your people and a lunge that makes a shock wave. The Guardian version also can jump off-screen and land causing a large shock wave. And it has a poison spit attack that splats on the screen partially obstructing the player's view and that creates purple puddles that inflict poison.

Etymology[]

Yvonne is a relatively popular female first name, chiefly in Europe. Yvonne is the female form of the name Yvon, which stems from the French name "Yves", referring to the wood of a yew tree. It could have originally been an occupational name related to archery.

Why this name was chosen for this UMA is unknown, but it could be in part a reference to the Japanese word for "warts", いぼ ibo, since the Yvonne UMA has many warts on its back.
